A protected environment
Located right at the edge of the Perche Regional Nature Park, La Ferté-Vidame is surrounded by an exceptional natural and landscaped environment. Great expanses of forest, numerous age-old lakes and remarkable fauna and flora are elements that will delight both young and old. Round the bend of a forest track, you may discover the majesty of a great 10-point stag, the impressive flight of grey herons or the captivating beauty of marsh gentians or colchiums. Educational trail through the damp Mousseuse forest
Situated at the end of the Mousseuse ponds (direction l'Aigle), when you arrive at Rond Montpensier, come and lose yourself on the educational trail through the damp Mousseuse forest. Like explorers, you set off to explore the peaty soils and their series of unique species, very specific to this type of extreme environment.

Arboretum
Created in 1990, the arboretum contains around 150 trees, shrubs and
bushes. This tree collection shows the visitor how to recognise barks,
shapes, leaf colours, flowers and fruits. Life in the arboretum follows the
rhythm of the seasons, making it a place of constant discovery. Through the different
species, you can trawl through the history of our planet, meeting the oldest
tree in creation, the Ginkgo Biloba, or journey to far-off lands, discovering
the Himalayan Cedar, the Serbian Spruce or the Giant Sequoia ...
The arboretum is at the camp site. From La Ferté-Vidame take the
Nogent-le-Rotrou direction.
Open all year round (free entrance). For groups (10 and over) ask
the Tourist Office.
Walking
Taking a winding sunken track or going along on the fringes of plain and forest, set off to explore a rich and varied natural heritage that is still preserved. You have the choice of four walking circuits, the lakes (10 km), Réveillon (8 km), Saint-Hubert path (10,5 km) and round the high forest La Ferté-Vidame - Senonches (21.5 km).

Rides in a donkey cart
Exploring the streets of La Ferté-Vidame or the château and grounds by donkey cart is a perfect idea that will delight both young and old. On Sunday morning, starting at 10h00, meet up in front of the covered market with the "Domaine équin du cerf" and in the afternoon in front of the Tourist Office (Pavillon Saint-Dominique at the entrance to the grounds) www.domaine-equin-du-cerf.com
Horse rides
L'Orée du Perche Hotel & Restaurant invites you to discover the "Henson" horses. You can embark on a guided tour of Les Boisselières stud farm, with the possibility of having a ride.

Stunt-riding cycle circuit
Situated at Rond Montpensier, on the edge of the damp Mousseuse forest, a stunt-riding circuit gives children and teenagers the opportunity to try this sporting activity in a unique forest setting. There is an explanatory sign at the beginning of the circuit.
Fishing at La Puisaye
4 km from La Ferté-Vidame, whether you are a carp or trout specialist, a lover of halieutic sensations, come and relax with family or friends at the Moulin de Rouge leisure centre. Anne and Michel Fialeix, whose warmth and kindness are legendary, will be delighted to welcome you to their domain. Young and old will leave with happy memories of a day in the open air beside one of the loveliest lakes in the region, the Rouge lake.
